Website Project Rubric

Goal: Build a professional website for a real or fictional business/organization.

Website presentations will be held the week of March 9th. You will have 5–10 minutes to present your site and receive feedback from the class.

Final projects will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

Site Structure & Navigation
  • Includes a Home page plus at least 3 additional pages (e.g., About, Services, Contact).
  • Navigation menu is clear, consistent, and functional.
  • Pages are easy to find and organized logically.

Page Content & Writing
  • Each page has meaningful, original text (not filler).
  • Headings and subheadings are used to structure content.
  • Writing is clear, appropriate for the business, and mostly free of errors.

Visual Design & Branding
  • Theme choice matches the business or organization.
  • Colors and fonts are consistent and easy to read.
  • Images are relevant, clear, and not distorted.

Technical Elements
  • Uses headings (h1–h6) correctly.
  • Includes at least one list (ordered or unordered).
  • Includes at least one image with appropriate alt text.
  • Includes internal links (between pages) and at least one external link.
  • Uses bold and italic text intentionally.

Professional Features
  • Includes clear business description or mission statement.
  • Provides contact information or a contact form.
  • Includes hours, location, or service details (if applicable).

Overall Quality & Effort
  • No broken links or obviously unfinished pages.
  • No placeholder text (e.g., “Lorem ipsum”).
  • Site shows revision, polish, and attention to detail.
